Update 3-2-1 : New Product - Data Integration - Inspirational Quote

The sporadic news and information coming from EYM needs structure. Therefore, we are learning from James Clear and adding a bit of a structure to our blog & newsletter.

In our case, we will start with cycling through the following themes:

1. New Product Development

2. Local Grower Data & Visualization

3. Inspirational Quotes

So with that said, we would like to update you on the continuous improvement of our main DIY Microgreens Kit.

1 - Therefore, I would like to highlight the success of our and most popular starter product, EYM 1020 Microgreen Grow Kit (V2).

2 - As many of you know. I started growing microgreens to see its viability in bridging the gap of a sustainable and healthy food source that can be grown in high yields within a small amount of space. We have been continuously growing our microgreens since 2020 but have had our challenges of COVID and anti-kraak or temporary spaces. I can write endlessly about all the challenges that we have had, therefore, capturing and integrating all of the work into data that can be managed is very difficult.

In any case, February is already here and we have been very busy with IT and data management related matters, which have included upgrading our website (EYMicrogreens.nl) and creating a new platform where we can grow our local food network by sharing our experience, together with data visualization that supports our current and future local microgreens farming potential.

The current website is continuously giving us more integration with our products, knowledge, and social media accounts.

Telling stories with data can feel overwhelming and challenging, especially for those new to IT and data management. The task often involves structuring and creating ad hoc workflows that merge data from multiple platforms to generate visuals, insights, and discussions. Additionally, there are numerous checks to perform before utilizing the data, which underscores the importance of data analysts. However, despite these hurdles, I have successfully processed user and grower data from Eat Your Microgreens (EYM) spanning from January 2023 to January 2024 🥳.

WE want to encourage EYM Growers to provide us with more inputs so that we continue updating our database and connecting more data points to motivate and encourage each other to keep growing 💪. For this reason, we have created an issue way to input your growing data via our website. You can find the link here:

If you have any suggestions, comments or like to be involved in the building of more bridges, give us a shout!

3 - Last, I would like to end with this quote from Terence McKenna. Terence has always been able to see past the challenges and through all the restless nights, see the light at the end of the tunnel.

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it's a feather bed.” Terence McKenna

Like Courage, Stoicism also gives us the mentality to overcome challenges and prioritize what we have an influence over. I believe that Stoicism goes hand-in-hand with sustainable business. Unlike the war and oil industry, polluting and destroying the planet is easy money but to have no conflict, build peace, and a sustainable co-dependency with our planet is an uphill battle that makes little to more money if you focus on trading. At the same time, it can be a unforgettable life experience as you might learn more about yourself in the process.

Happy growing and eating your microgreens!

To be continued with 3 - 2 - 1 = NPD + ICT + Stoicism => Local Food Transition Success

In the initial pie chart, you'll observe the percentage of growers by country among nearly 100 microgreen growers across 5 countries. The second graph highlights the potential of microgreen production on a weekly basis. With the rapid turnover of microgreens and the ability to harvest twice per week, there's significant interest in embracing the consumption of these nutritious greens 🌱.
